Manzambi: This team is perfect for me

Johan Manzambi capped off a great week by scoring the winner as Aston Villa beat Newcastle United in the Premier League on Saturday evening.

The No.44 netted on his Champions League debut and 21st birthday on Wednesday before notching at St James’ Park with a first-half header.

Manzambi’s clever movement in the box, combined with a superb cross from João Gomes, allowed him to head home the only goal.

It rounded off a week to remember for the Swiss as he spoke after the game alongside Man of the Match Nicolas Jackson.

“I’m very happy to score today,” he said.

“I hope next time we can both score, but the most important thing is the three points.”

Victory in Newcastle continues Villa’s upward trajectory in the table, and they move level on points with United in 12th.

It also continued Manzambi’s impressive start to life as a Villan, marking his sixth goal involvement in the last four games.

The team’s performances in Europe and in the top flight are justifying his decision to move to Villa Park in the summer.

He said: “The team is very good.

“I played against this team in the final (Europa League) and I knew about this team.

“It’s a very good team with a big coach, and it’s perfect for me.”
