Two Aston Villa Women players have been nominated for September's Women's Super League Awards, with Akane Okuma in the running for British Gas Save of the Month, and Lynn Wilms nominated for the Barclays Goal of the Month.

Okuma's stunning stoppage time save from Lauren James helped Villa to secure their first ever point against Chelsea on the opening day of the campaign.

Meanwhile Wilms' late Olimpico goal on the south coast helped to snatch a share of the points against Brighton a fortnight ago.

Both awards will be decided by the public, with voting now open via the links below:

21-year-old Okuma made nine saves throughout a stellar debut performance at Stamford Bridge on the opening day of the season, which also earned her the game's Player of the Match award.

With hosts Chelsea pushing hard for a winning goal in stoppage time, Okuma showed sharp reactions to kick out her left foot and divert James' low drive over the crossbar.

A week later, full-back Wilms' exhibited her set piece prowess to secure our second successive point on the road against Brighton on matchday three.

The Dutch international stepped up to take a corner from the left hand side in the 89th minute of the contest in Sussex, whipping a high delivery straight over keeper Chiamaka Nnadozie and into the back of the net.

You can vote for Akane's save and Lynn's goal now via the Women's Super League website, by clicking below:
